If Sunset does not have what I need, I usually call Don @ EBS Racing. Here you go http://www.ebsracing.com/catalog-3/v..._/_/alternator

If the bearings feel ok you might be able to just replace the regulator/brushes unit that is mounted on the back of the alternator.

Just rebuild it. Not hard. Or buy a refurb.

What about DC Auto? I've only dealt with them once but I was satisfied.

After I sheared off the shaft on the original, I replaced mine last year with a reconditioned Bosch which I ordered online from Advanced Auto. It was shipped directly from Bosch, Atlanta GA. Took the core with no shaft to my local store and got back the core charge.

To date, works perfectly.

Rebuild kit, new regulator, brush/holder, slip rings, front and rear bearings, under $50.00.

EBAY rebuilt..??

My first ('88 Carrera) purchase was PP, second ('79 Targa) was DIY rebuild, third ('78 Targa) was PP, last ('78 Targa, again) Ebay.
