Car will not start - any ideas?
Hello all,
Went to start the car this morning and just got a fast clicking sound possibly from under car, starter area? No starter turning and the battery ran low very quick.
I have a 993 DME relay (about 1.5 years old) tried my old 944 one and difference, well just one click now, same when went back to 993 one.
Starter replaced about 2 months ago and has worked very well since!
Didn't have a chance to check anything else before going to work.
Anyone have any ideas or recommendations on what to check tonight?
relays, starter connections?
Thanks Richard.

P.S. Forgot to mention, battery about 2 years old (gen. Porsche one) and car was started 2 days ago. Also have not had any battery problems previously.

Re: checking the voltage - it can look OK even when the battery is shot and can't supply any decent current.
I've had a battery just suddenly die like that. No previous signs of any problem and it had been left to charge for a couple of days.
So what happens as I rush to leave to catch a ferry to go on holiday with the car packed full of luggage...?

Definitely battery. May want to consider Optima battery as replacement? There's a current thread on them. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=19981

Dead right (excuse the pun) both of you.
I had left one of the interior lights on!!
Car started first time after it had been on charge all day. Just hope the battery is still okay. We shall see.
Thanks.
Richard.
