Default So I tried to educate my kids

Kids were interested in the car so I took the air box off and was showing them the power steering pump, explaining how it works, etc. put the air box back on closed up the engine bay and went about my evening. Couple days later I go for a spirited drive and note a distinct burning oil smell. Walk around the car and find a little oil dripping on the secondary muffler. No obvious line leaks so I pop the engine bay to find it covered in oil. Flip. Forgot to put the oil fill cap back on. Oily mess is contained to the right third of the engine and body work.

Any suggestions for cleaning? I've never done an engine detail before.

Simple green and gentle garden hose inside.... if you have a power washer you can take off the secondary muffler and wash it off the car. We've all cleaned up leaks of some kind or another. I didn't get the oil filter tight one time during an oil change. Disaster!

Surprisingly, Adam's Polishes In and Out Spray with a couple of rags does wonders! We sell the products, but didn't see it on the site. Might need to call for it. I really love the stuff, personally.

Thankfully I had a gallon of simple green in the basement. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.
