Default Help with BBS e88 size and offsets

Hello mates. I'm in the process of ordering a set of BBS e88 for my 92 C2 and I can't seem to nail down the wheels set up I want. I'm planning to lower the car with PSS10 coilovers to just below RS spec. I want things aggressive up to a certain point. Car will not be a dd but it will be driven often and driven hard. Handling and performance are paramount and I don't want any issues with rubbing. That said it still needs to have a nice stance. I've messaged a few of you here who have given me some great direction. So far i've heard 18x8 and 18x10 with a 50 offset or 8.5 with a 48 and 10 with 42. 48 and 42 is very aggressive and may rub but does look awesome. BBS seems to think going with the first option I mentioned but I don't want the tire too far in the wheel well. Need a happy medium. So rather than debate the topic it would be great if some you could post your e88s specs for c2 specs; pics too if you want. This will give me a better idea as to what my options are. Thank you in advance.

Thanks.

This is the way to go:

Front: 8.J ET52 (Edited)
Rear: 9.5J ET47

Actually I disagree. 8J 225 ET52 and 10J 265 ET45 is perfect for a smooth fitment. 8.5 isn't necessary on the front unless you run 235 and that'll cause rubbing. 9.5J will want a 265 and 10J will give 265 a squarer profile.

Cheers,

Hi Frank,

You are right about the front, BBS recommends a 8J.
However, a 9.5j ET47 in the rear is an easier fit.

Cheers

And Porsche recommend something else. Wheel fitment from what shops say and what we do are two entirely different things.

Sure 9.5J ET47 is an easy fit, but why not go larger and allow a nice square profile on a 265. 265 10J ET45 is also a easy fit.

What ET is recommended for 8.5J fronts with 235 tires? Where and when does the rubbing occur: fender or fender well, full lock?

Also, is fender rolling required or recommended for these sizes?

Thanks
Dan

Cheers,
Do you have any pictures of your ride. Are you getting any rubbing or needed to roll the fender. More interested in the back where you have it at 45. 52 ti the front I'm sure give s you no issues. I'm planning to lower the car to just below RS spec which I believe is 40mm below standard RS.

Pictures of my ride? Yup here you go with my period Mag BBS GT2s

My car is setup for the track with aggressive camber and 0 toe on the front (I wouldn't suggest as aggressive camber or 0 toe on a C2). As such this means that I can run a much lower offset and 'wider' wheels. I also have flattened arch lips and angle grinded bumper to wing brackets.

The crucial ingredient is ride height and geometry. These two elements change everything when it comes to wheel fitment.

What I have given you in suggested spec is what will fit 'universally' on 964 narrow body cars. Based a reasonable geo, ride height etc.

Sick! She is a beaut! Thanks for the info. For immediate future the car wont be seeing a track but I could see it down line. Thanks for the info. I'm leaning to ward 50 to the front and either 45 or 48 in the rear.

Remember that offsets mean nothing without posting width, the two have a direct relationship.

I'm assuming you mean 8J ET50 and 10J ET 45 or 48. Which will fit perfect.

Thanks for the kind words.

Exactly 18x8 ET50 and 18x10 ET45 or 48. Do you see any issues with 45 rubbing assuming lowering its just a tad under RS spec?

Will be fine on ET45 10J in my book - you'll thank me for a bigger rear lip too.

Wheels arrived. I ended up going with 8 and 10s with a 50 offset all around. I figured that would be a safe place to start. I can always add a small spacer to back if anything. Thanks for all the help.
