Default Chassis/Engine Numbers

Hi All,
Back after a few weeks break, hope you have all been nice to each other.

Something i've been wondering about. We see a lot of photos with cars with number plates blocked out to hide the identity of the car. On the other hand with a bit of looking you can find numerous engine /chassis details on owners particular cars. Should we not safeguard this information, not wanting to give anyone any daft ideas but couldn't this be used in cloning a vehicle?

Dear Dave,
This information is available from official sources anyway.
Ciao,
Adrian

JB, Like I said, 'be nice'.
Cheers Adrian, I wasn't aware that this info was freely available. Kind of makes a mockery of the bits of tape etc we see covering up number plates though dont you think. It seems to be more a UK rather than a Stateside thing from what I can gather.

Dave

Is that why your avatar only shows a portion of the back of the car?

I thought somebody may try and copy the front. You know, just to be on the safe side only a portion is all i'm showing (that added to the fact that by the time I had got the file size down to an acceptable level there was only a tiny piece of car left).

...try standing further away from the car with the camera - you'll find you can get more of the car in the shot

By the way Rob, congrats on your 500th post. You must nearly need a new keyboard eh?

There must be something wrong with me tonight. Either that, or this board is in one of its hysterical phases!
