My poor Porsche has been getting neglected, just not on the priority radar right now but I have managed to figure a few things out with these OBX headers.
I've flipped mine around and faced them forward and the left side bolts up fine just clearanced the front sheet metal a tiny bit for the collector pipe.
The right one (center pipe) fouls on the lowest part of the chain ramp housing but it's an easy modification, mainly a couple of cuts and twist the pipe downwards a little.
Facing the headers forward means I have lots of room to run a secondary muffler on each side before the GT3 box.
With new exhaust studs in place at least its easy to mock things up now, the flange alignment on these cheapo headres is fine, encountered no problems bolting them on.
Once I have the right 180 deg stainless bends I'll place a V band connection before each muffler so that the headers are able to stay on for rocker cover removal.

mumble mumble...
thinking about going this route.
From what I understand:
- attaching the Y pipe directly to both "ins" on the GT3 muffler is possible BUT the car becomes too loud.
- the valves are attached to the side oem mufflers of a GT3 - buying just the center exit muffler is not enough.
- Using additional muffler a-la-993 is not feasible on the 964
Possible shortcut (assuming aftermarket headers):

Not to hijack this thread, but have anyone tried a 991 TT/GT2 muffler. Is very similar to the GT3 counterpart but with side inlet/outlet.

Another option could be a 991 Carrera S Sport muffler with vacuum valves on secondary exits.
Both should sound a tad lower that the GT3 muffler but considering these are for cars with +400 Hp it shouldn't be any problem for the 964. My goal is to keep the car sounding like a Porsche, not a muscle car like Fabs or B&B setups.
Any thoughts on fitment or if you know somebody did this before please quote it.
Thanks,
Carlos
