Angry B6-Sport / HD confusion, help pls

Hi fellows,

I would like to swap my stock suspension setup. My car is a 1990 C4, pre nov C4 that is. I read all the prior posts to be completed sure of what I want.

made a choice : Eibach springs ( 7201.140) combined with HD Bilsteins.

I checked some serialnumbers on the (US) Eibach site and came up these productnumbers suitable for my pre nov 90 car:

EIBACH V36-0384 (front left) V36-0385(front right)

B46-1735 rears.

I checked out with some German suppliers (as they are the less expensive here in Europe) and was given the answer that these are not in production anymore!

So I checked the German Bilstein webpage and came up with the ones mention ed above plus these :

B6 Sport VE3-5277 (front left) VE3-5278 (front right)

B46-1735 rears

I was prepared after all that reading but now I am totally confused ... what is the difference between HD and the B6 Sports ? Did Bilstein really stopped the production of the HD's ? Are the B6 sports the next generation of the HD'sWill the B6 Sports give me the same results as the HD's ?

Man I do not know anymore ....

Can someone give me a hand here ?

Thank you so much

B6 sports are basically the same as HDs. The front struts and springs are the same (well almost in springs, standard rates vary slightly) for all models of C4 and C2 regardless of model year. It is the rear end that was changed.

Ok thanks Adrian.

So there's no risk to opt for the B6-Sports than.

I just want to avoid that I will need a dentist after a ride in town. I never go on track, mainly daily use home-work.

Thanks. Maybe somebody with these B6's can share their experiences ?

C ya

I cannot guarantee that a trip to the dentist is not going to be necessary. Ride comfort will go down if you install B6s or HDs. How much depends upon the springs you use, the wheels and tyres you install. Personally I think you might need to look at some of the RUF lowering products which do not impact ride comfort.

I have the B6 in my 92 C2. I got the Gemballa H&R springs with Bilstein dampers from www.type911.co.uk (no affilliation etc) for £650 + VAT.

I am happy with them and would do the same again.
