Default Refinishing wheels

Picked up some Techart Daytonas last fall and its about time to start refinishing them.

I'll be stripping the clearcoat off of the lips and giving them a good polish, but before I do that, I've got a question. The barrels have etching on them as shown below. Does anyone have any experience with refinishing lips that have this kind of etching? I'd like to keep it if possible, but I'm worried that polishing the lips will make it less visible or even remove it completely.

Any tips or tricks I should be aware of?

Nice looking wheels. Ping our wheel guru extraordinaire (Jim Dorociak) when it comes to anything Speedline, he'll be able to give you pointers.
