Default Fair price for OEM wheels/Tires

What's a fair price for OEM rims with tires (75%)? Also what's the difference between Cup I's and Cup II's, and how do I tell which is which?

Stupid question, but search didn't help.

Thanks guys,

D

Also, do early 993 wheels (16") fit on 964s? The offsets I believe are off by 2mm.

Early 964's came with 16" design 90 wheels (1990-1991). We're plentiful, now nice ones are harder to find as people are going back to stock. They were $2-400, now nice sets bring $800+.
Later 964's came with 16" design 92 wheels (1992-1994). Fairly rare as compared to the 90's but.not a huge market, maybe $800-1000.

17" Cup 1's became the optional wheel starting in 1992. VERY desirable lately, they used to sell for ~ $1k. Now they evaporate between $2-3k depending on condition.
17" Cup 2's never came on 964's but we're introduced as the optional wheel (16" standard on early 95 993) on the 993 in 1995. Not rare at all. Depending on shape $800-1500.

16" 993 wheels fit in the front but would need a ~15mm rear spacer as they are a 70mm rear offset. These wheels are worth $400-600, not a big market for them.

In terms of visuals, just Google the wheel name, pics will come up. Make sure any wheel you buy has Porsche part numbers (at least if that's what you want and are paying for) as their are replicas of Cup 1, Cup 2 and Design 92 wheels.

Used tires usually aren't worth much. They are usually old date stamp wise and add considerable cost for shipping. Unless they are almost new I consider them to be worth almost zero. Almost new maybe 50% of retail.

Awesome, thanks Nathan. The ones I'm looking at are 16" '95 993's with dunlops on front and Fuzion ZRis on back. Apparently they don't even sell Fuzions anymore but are good tires, based on my search. They're original, with center caps, but have been chromed. I think I have the identical wheels (16", similar look) on my '91, maybe they came after the fact based on your timeline? I.e design 92. These also appear to be Design 92, but don't know the "cup" designation (my google search seemed to show the same rims for both).

Also part numbers are 993.362.114.00 front and 993.362.118.01 rears, which seem to check out.

Wink Easy...

First pic of my '92 as it arrived with CUP-2 wheels.

Second pic now with CUP-1 wheels

Design 92 wheels have a more slender spoke than the Cup-1s....

Based on the photos I'm guessing this is a Cup 1, and I guess logic would dictate that after 92, no porsche came with a Cup 2, right?

And this is a Cup 2

Second picture is a CUP-2, 17" wheel.

First Pic is not a CUP-1 wheel....
CUP-1 spokes are flat and all are 17". This looks like the 993 16" wheel.

1st pic is a 16" cup 2 from a 1995 993. 2nd pic is a 17" Cup 2 from a 1995-1998 993.

Chrome wheels are also an absolute no-no on a Porsche. They never came from the factory that way, they were often done by dealers or owners after the fact. The chrome fails especially on the bead and then leads to slow air leak issues. Not to mention visually offensive...

The challenge with the 16" Cup 2 is the rears are 16x9 and nobody makes the correct tire sizes anymore (205/55/16 and 245/45/16). You can fit 225 front and 245 rear but even that the Only tire is the Bridgestone RE-11, good tire but availibility is on again/off again. If you want a set of these wheels I have a nice set I would sell for $300 + shipping.

Got it, should probably stop dicking around with the new wheels - I was just somewhat interested because my tires are starting to get a little bare and as you mentioned I can basically get new wheels + tires for what it would cost me to get just new tires. If it was an upgrade, I would probably do it, but seeing as I REALLY can't tell the difference (I honestly thought there's a difference based on Abarthguy's pictures between the two I posted - one has spokes that are rounded whereas the other one looks more square/flat), maybe I should just stick with what I know

Thanks all, hope this info is useful to others.

The Design 92 wheels are sometimes referred to as 16" Cup 1's.
I use them for autocrossing, as they are 7"/8", rather than the Design 90's that are 6"/8".

D90's selling for up to $800?! Where have I been? 964 parts have been going through the roof.

OP, 17" is a nice upgrade for the 964. Tire selection is another reason to go with 17's per the comments above.

Huh. Just realized I actually have 17" Cups 2's if such a thing exists...
