Default Need help identifying a part

Hey guys,

Just got my C4. It's been sitting for awhile. Just had it tuned up, she's running great, but I noticed part of the fan blower rubber or something is brittle and cracked.

Here's a pic to show you what I mean:

As you can see it's where the hard plastic joins with the fan. So all the rubber is chipped, so theres no seal now.

I need to drive the car up to my house. Is this going to hurt it for a short trip? Was thinking of just duct taping it until I get the part. Just to get me home.

Short drives/cold weather should be fine but keep an eye on temps if you live somewhere hot.

There are a few variations on that part but this looks like it might be close:

Part number: 96410640302

As per the part page make sure you check part numbers on the old part before ordering. Your local Porsche dealer will also be able to get the part for not much more ££$$ and the pukka rubber might last longer than stuff you buy elsewhere.

Partnr. 964 106 403 02
Driving won't heart, only less sufficient heater function.

Cool. FYI apparently this RS has run many thousands of miles with no fan shroud at all:

...so a few tiny holes in the heater outlet shouldn't cause you too many problems. Just keep an eye on it as they can fall to bits quite quickly.

Be sure to double check the spacers on your electric fan. My car had a similar fit when I first got it. It had a 993 blower motor which by default are 6mm too long for 964s. You can shorten them with a grinder. Its described in Adrian's book. Let me know if you need me to look up the page number.

Once shortened, the blower motor fits snugly with the rubber boot.
