Default new suspension

Iam going to take the plunge and buy new suspension.

I've never been happy with the feal of my current set up, billstein & eibach.
Always thought car sat to high, and at pace feels floaty.
Maybe lack of damping?

So iam planning on a swop.
Done lots of research, kw v3/cs, pss9,ast 4100 or maybe ohlins?
Not decided yet.

I know v3 are well proven, and cost effective ( been in boxsey car, works well).
Ast the unknown, good reviews but none for a 964?
Billstein pss9, seam good but expensive.
Ohlins = expensive, but apparently fantastic? Look brilliant.

Allso what about top mounts?
Do I need adjustable top mounts?
Any recommendations, preferably a cheaper option?
Ther es so many options....

Russ,

I thought the KW Club sports came with top mounts?

Is there that much difference in price between PSS10 and KW? I thought they were pretty similar these days

Ohlins are in a different ballpark price wise, and I assume also level of performance and adjustability

Look at MCS - offered with and without remote pressure resivoirs. Very nice shock/ suspension improvement. You would have to determine spring rates.

With KWV3 it'll come with new top mounts for the rear but you use the existing top mounts at the front. You only need adjustable mounts if you want to put a lot more negative camber on the front. As your car is mostly road use I would stick with the standard top mounts at the front.

Now that the track season has finished, I've just softened up my KWV3s for the winter period. It's lovely to drive on the road on the softer settings. This is what I love about the versatility of the KWV3 set up.

I put the V3 on this year for exactly the same purpose. If you want, they will get *very* stiff. Lightest settings for the off-season are still nicely sporting.

I believe that the V3 only come with rear top mounts for the early rear suspension cars. Also fairly certain that it's the same rear coilover for both early/late cars. The rear monoball top mount just takes the place of using a large spacer for the early rear suspension.

Additionally, the C2 and C4 have different coilover kit part numbers and prices, but I could never get any info from KW on what is different.

Nice for the winter- they are stainless steel.

All that said, I'm surprised you feel the car feels floaty with Eibach & Bilstein HD. I changed from Bilstein+H&R and it was plenty tight. Was running near RS height though, which would explain some of the difference. Is this floaty at street speeds, or track speeds? Perhaps just a set of H&R lower springs would do the trick if you just want better street performance?

Floaty feeling is at speed on a or b roads. Hard to explain.
I've changed Allmost every component, poly bush, uprated everything.
Maybe a spring swop would work?

Iam used to cars being lower/firmer, so thought next step is try different set up.

Think iam going to get the v3, tried and tested. I like the idea of adjusting them for different conditions.

Don't think I'll bother with top mounts, mine are new.
And the rennline ones are a small fortune.

Might order them tomorrow!

The best crimbo present ever, kw v3!

Never had a wheel bearing.

I've never had any of the usual bearing issues, noise or wheel play.
How did you find it to be a wheel bearing?

What is your alignment like? Do you have a printout of the setup?

KWV3 and Bilstein PSS10 for that matter come pre-assembled with springs.

Yes, but can you request the weight you want or are you stuck with what they want to send you. Spring weight needs to be considered carefully as it depends on the type of driving you are going to do with the car to get the best performance. But, performance does not equal a nice street ride. Spring rates can vary from 200 to 600 for front and 250 to 900 for rear. Driver preference in set up.

i had new RS-springs with RS-Dampers in the rear an cup-dampers for the front last winter. It`s a dream. Quite impressive.... It is not that harsh like expected. The response is sensational und the car handles great.

Springs from rosepassion. The Bilstein-Dampers from different sources...

The Cup-ones for the front have identical spec like the 93RS ones. Round about 10percent less rebound than 64RS stuff...

Cost over all: round about 2k€
