Default Camshaft refurb in the UK?

Hi guys,

I have two sets of camshafts, one pair of 3.6 and one pair of 3.2. They both look as new except some very minor pitting on a lobe or two on each cam. I would guess this mean they have to be refinished?

I checked with a company here in Sweden, but they are CRAZY expensive. I can practically buy new cams in the US for the same money as a re-finish here!

It seems to expensive to send two sets to the US for refinish, so I thought someone here might have a company to recommend in the UK instead?

Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Regards,

Johan

Nick Fulljames at REDTEK. Everything he does is in house. They even reproduce rare engine parts for all the old Le Mans racing cars...

Johan, you could try Mezgerwerk in Germany.

PCH was there recently on a visit and there and there has been a story about them in Porsche Klassik Magazine.
Their web is under constrution but send a email to:

Torsten@mezgerwerk.de

Lycka till
Per

TBH even with postage and import robbery I'd be surprised if it worked out much cheaper to get them done in the UK instead of just mailing them to someone like Dougherty Racing Cams.

Be interested to hear how you get on over here though. I think Kent Cams also do it but only to trade not joe public.

There's a well known builder in Holland offering this service:

http://www.hurricaneracing.nl/servicesNED.htm

Which is known as 'Nokkenas slijpen' in Dutch ;-)

They have an English version of their site as well, but for some reason this doesn't list services:

http://www.hurricaneracing.nl/bedrijfUK.htm

Anyway, since the cost/hassle of rebuilding your engine when things go wrong are significant I'd settle for a new cam.

Thanks all, I have contacted everyone except Joy who didnt have a website. Redtek recommended new cams too, but considering how nice they are elsewise I feel it would be a shame to trash them.

Which actually doesn't surprise me. Most builders would recommend replacing...
