distributor chirp
Had the distributor belt changed and after 1000 miles a chirp started. It only occurs when the engine is warm. It sounds just like a squeak from a belt and is definitely coming from the lower distributor (used a stethoscope). I pulled the vent plug and shot some WD40 in there hoping it would work its way around but the chirp remains. Any ideas?

Dear Claude,
WD40 very bad idea. I will not waste bandwidth explaining why. If you want to try and remove noise from belts there is a special graphite spray for this. I have no idea what it would be called in the USA. Here translated it is called belt lube.
If you cannot get hold of this spray use light graphite grease. I suspect the chirp is not the belt but the drive assembly. The grease or spray should also fix this. KEEP use of graphite spray to a minimum and keep it away from the cap, contacts and rotor.

Claude, You might want to remove the distributor caps and check that everything is in place. Especially the rotors. Just a thought as describing sounds is very difficult.
