Daily & Weekend 964 on Spa
After having driven most of the 911's back from pre 73's through to water-cooled 996/997 Cab's, GT3's, GT2's & Turbos... I saw the light a few years back. The ultimate one is without a doubt 964, its classic look and feel but still capable as daily and weekend track toy after a few little tweaks, is unrivaled. I used to track GT3's and even had a 360 Challenge for a while, none of them come anywhere close to the enjoyment I get from my track 964. For road use, I have had loads of AMG's, Audis, Jaguars, lots of 911's etc over the years, but none of them can rival my road 964.
So, I bought a non damaged, no rust, low mileage Tip and had it split in pieces by my local 911 air-cooled specialist. Interior was perfect, but paint had fainted, so windows out, fresh Guards Red and all new rubbers applied. While on the ramp I added Bilsteins & Turbo brake upgrade, did exhaust, chip and throttle body and RS GEO. We have other cars, but the Tip 964 is my favorite choice if no need of excess luggage space or loads of kids to bring.
For track use I found an original no sunroof C2 with a few track upgrades, cage was in, Pole Positions, Bilsteins, brakes, some weight shredded... Again back to my local air-cooled specialist to drop weight, get suspension optimized, lighter and bigger wheels, brakes optimized, last interior bits out and a little more power. We ended up adding a low boost Rotrex and Aquamist for IAT cooling. It now hassles well set up Manthey GT3's on any track. Even on long tracks like Spa I am within a second of Manthey GT3's driven spirited. Recently blasted it round the Alps with L9O. Week after it did 2 1/2 day on Spa. Absolutely love this car.
Also got my hands on a WTL Cab. A friend located it for me in the Middle East, low mileage but stored for many years. So gotta sort out transport and import to NL, then we will go through same exercise, anything not perfect will be rectified. Original color Ruby and interior black/Ruby. Thinking initially of retaining exterior color, but interior will go all black. Most likely it will end up Silver, Guards, or one of the classic Porsche blue. Have moments where I am thinking Slate Grey... Decisions decisions...
So now I only miss a C4.... Frank are you there??

Awesome Great post on the 'other' thread too
Yup I'm coming for ya at Spa next year - or I'll do my best! Just gotta loose weight.
Yes! You need a C4. They're just too well balanced to overlook!
