Handy for entry/exit given the seats I believe you may use.

Really handy when you clean the interior and the gauges, and...

Again, they look really cool as they just add a bit of the "it" factor to a street rod.
Thanks for that. Wouldn't have ever considered it without your post.

great point. I'm totally taking that wheel to the dinner table when we go out. That reminds me of my removable face Alpine unit in the 11th grade. My wife will laugh when I ask her to carry it in her purse.

When I first got my car back (as a dual use) I walked into Aud's office with the wheel.

The entire place thought my shiny new Porsche had somehow fallen apart...

If you want to consider using a 380mm RS wheel with hockey puck, as came fitted on the RSR here is some information on how Zuffenhaus has done it to include backdate of the stalks and clamshell.

http://zuffenhaus.us/wordpress/?p=1160

That would allow the use of this wheel.

Hood exit you say, now you're talking my language

It's a lot of work but works very well.

Good luck with your build

Default Seats...

I am thinking about seats this weekend. I have standard 997 GT3 seats in my 88 Targa which I like. I am thinking about more of a racing style seat for this car like these. Anyone know what these are? I assume these are the optional 997 GT3 racing seats? Thoughts on these or something else?

Those are the GT2 bucket seats. They could be ordered on the GT2, later GT3s, Cayman R, and some others. Best seats Porsche has ever made in my opinion.

These are the 991 GT3 seats, also known as the 997 GT2 seats. I bought a set in Perlon (yet to install it) and IMO they are the most comfortable seat Porsche made, but they are not light by any measure. They are a fiberglass shell with carbon fiber for the top layer, they have the side airbag integrated, and they tilt forward to allow to get stuff from the back seats but they do not recline.

Note that folks have reported that these sit higher than the original seats, which can be an issue if you are tall or plan on racing (helmet clearance). However, a forum member told me that if you peel back the side covers, it will reveal an additional set of holes that are not drilled through. By drilling them out and repositioning the side mount, it allows for the seat to sit lower.

Nice project BTW!

Thanks. Those look like the right seats. I will have to keep my eye out for a set. Anyone know what a good price would be? GT3 RS Seats go for $3k or so.

Steve tells me rear flares have arrived from the motherland. Real German hand-made RSR flares. Steve tells me pics are forthcoming....

Also I thought I had color figured out. I really like the non-metallic GT3 color "Gray-Black". I am now also considering stone gray and GT Silver? Thoughts?
