Default Yokohama A050 or Hoosier R7

Hi,

I have a 90 C2 weekender track car, and for the last couple of years have been running Yokohama A050 "R" Spec track tyres. 235/40/18 fronts and 265/35/18 rears.

I am considering some Hoosier R7 semi slicks, but the sizes from what I have seen are slightly narrower at fronts at 225 and rears at 245.

Even though I am giving away width, I am wondering with the move to Hoosier grooved slick, if I can expect an improvement over the R Specs. The Yokahama's are bloody good, but are they a match to Hoosiers?

One consolation is the fronts rub on tight turns. Not much room under the guards. The narrower Hoosier might alleviate this issue. Does the term "rubbing is racing" apply to under the guards?

Cheers,
AvdDrift

If you have enough camber in, you might be able to get away with 235s and 275s. I do.

The Hoosiers R6 or R7 should be a bit quicker.
