Default Matter bolt in bar

Has anyone here installed a Matter bolt-in? I purchased one and would love to see some pics of the install. My test fit seems a little close to the front seats. Thanks, Mark

I cannot help you with any input, but am interested in seeing any information. I recently purchases a Matter AL rollbar for my 964. Mine was originally in a '90.

Are you using the stock seats? The matter bars are really set up for the RS shells (recaro PP) which are very thin in profile.

I have 80's sport seats installed. I do plan on getting some seats in the near future that I can use with a 5 pt harness for the track. The back of the seat is just touching the roll padding. Also, since the bar doesn't have harness mounts, what is the recommended strategy? I am leaning toward backing plates and mounts at the parcel shelf like the RS? I will try and upload a photo when I can get to my computer.

Here is a photo of the both the test fit in my car as well as one of an RS belt application I was thinking of duplicating.

If I'm not mistaken it looks a tad to far forward the uprights should fit about where the B pillar sits.
If you have a sunroof it may compromise fitment ...Bert

Yea I really don't like how close your head is to the main hoop.
Can you lower the adjustment on the seat as low as it will go? That bar is way far forward of where I would expect it. Is it for a cab?

Aldo there is a couple if things to consider. The angle of the belts a off the shoulder need to be no more than 10deg from perpendicular to the guide or mounting point. So having them up high is important. Many people just go to the rear seatbelt mounts which is ok with a harness bar not directly.

You may be best off contacting matter or having a bolt on harness bar fabbed up to go between the uprights. Pretty easy and solves the issue completely.

Bert and J Richard, that is exactly what I thought, a little too far forward but as you can imagine, there isn't any adjustment as it bolts into the rear seat belt location. I was "told" it came out of a 964 coup. I have searched for installed images but came up blank. Some have a single bolt in at the front while mine has a curved plate with three holes to bolt to the side beams.

Can you show the complete foil label that is on the roll bar? The 911 and 964 are close but not identical. Could be the cause of the too far forward position.

George, Here is the Foil Image as well as one of the overall bar out of the car. It looks like the model number is D-7523 but I can'r read the numbers on the foil as it is too obscured.

Mark,
There should be more info on that foil label. By using tangential light you can read the numbers easier.
For example, here are 3 shots of my Clubsport bar, for/from an '88 Clubsport:

George, thanks for the photos, you must have a really good camera to get that kind of detail. I was able to take a photo and I believe it says "Carrera 2 RS" which I would assume is correct for my 964 C2.

I have a Matter bar in my '72 RS and it fits much farther bac kreally almost behind the B pillar..this
was from one cut for a cab and I had an inch added back, they can be cut and adjusted just about by
anyone that can weld but steel fence companies have the same stock ...

I'll echo Bert here. I would remove the seats, loosely fit the bar, than have it cut and modified to be further back. Should not compromise the bar, if done properly.
As it is, that is a cracked skull waiting to happen.
That said, it looks like a C2RS sticker. Nkce score!
