Question 964 RS valve covers

According to PET the 964 RS uses different valve covers to the rest of the 964 engines. 964.105.115.01 for the RS top cover and 964.105.116.01 for the RS lower cover where the rest use 964.105.115.02 for the top and 964.105.116.02 for the bottom. Does anyone know what the difference is? My guess is that the RS ones are magnesium and that the others are aluminium.

Ummm, I really must get a life. This has intrigued me and I've just spent half an hour trawling through books but can't find the answer...

Maybe Adrian can enlighten us?

Cheers

Phil

Dear Phil,
I pulled out my trusty RS mauals and nothing is mentioned. The RS 3.8 uses the same covers that is all I could find out. It cannot have anything to do with the power steering pump because the RHD Carrera RS and the RS Touring both have power steering.
Ciao,
Adrian

I know one thing... I replaced (standard ones) exhaust valve covers- those puppies are expensive! Even used!
