Default Rear deck swap - difficult?

Hey guys, just bought an OEM replacement lid for my 90 C2 which had two very ugly gashes in it. It's the stock lid with mechanized spoiler.

Search turns up lots of threads on aftermarket swaps but no step by steps for stock.

What's the level of difficulty to swap it out - clearly see the bolts holding it onto the hinges - but what about swapping the spoiler and it's motor as well as the cable release? If it's easy to screw this up, would rather take it to a body shop and let them do it.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom the tribal elders here can provide

Getting all the panel gaps right will be tricky. I might farm this job out.

Thanks so much - good news is that the body shop will do the lid shop at the insurance price of $40/hr and he reckons no more than 4 hours.

The bad news? I'm getting that rate because some m*therf8cker came and trashed my Panamera on Sunday, then came back on Monday to finish the job.

Full hit and run using his Ford F250. Threw my beautiful german beast around like it was a toy - neighbors security camera caught him in the act but unfortunately no plate visible.

Waiting for the estimate but the consensus is there's $15k+ worth of damage

I swapped out the spoiler on mine as the car had an engine fire before me and I had another black one from my wreck. The spoiler is tedious, but not hard. just take a few pics. As far as the deck lid, just note how many shims the factory used, and it is really simple. Trial and error till it fits right and you are happy. Save the $160+ and get some satisfaction doing it yourself.

Sorry to hear about your Panamera.
You realise that the bonnet, engine cover and doors have a unique (to that car/chassis number) number stamped into them ?

By changing the engine cover you'll effectively be losing that number. So you'd best keep the original engine cover as proof the car hasn't had major rear end damage.
