No kidding - if I wasn't getting crushed at work, I would definitely be a kid on Christmas morning with this.

My buddy opened his (for the 911) and sent me a couple pictures. The headliner is actually a nice stretched leather. The rest of the bits seem to be really good quality (according to him).

Pictures aren't really satisfying at all:

Sorry for the delay. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to dig into my own box.

And what it's supposed to look like:

Will you need to remove the entire power cab top mechanism?

That could work. I e-mailed D. Moris in English about the hardtop and the speedster hump. Haven't heard anything yet. I may need a translator.

Yes, you have to remove the full soft top. The frame and fabric cover must come off. You can leave the gear boxes and the electric moors but all else has to come out. Not as bad as it sounds, about a 2 hr job first time. Have to undo the "B" pillar anchor 3 Allen bolts each, then the 3 anchor points across back - 2 nuts on each. Then pull pins on gear box lever arms. Think there maybe a few screws, but those are the big ones. Then lift the complete top frame and all.

That is spot on. Plus there are 2 nuts (one on each side) almost where the C pillar would be. Took me about 30 mins to take the whole lot out.

Of more boxes, obviously. They used leftover boxes from a gorrilla farm apparently as there were 3 packing boxes of banana biologic from the Dominican Republic in there (to hold everything together). Kind of funny.

The supporting box is full of screws and plates and OEM porsche parts. I have the directions, but while they're in English, do not appear to have been written by an engineer or anyone who has ever installed one of these things (let alone seen one). Will be an adventure.

The top itself comes in a cool matte black prime. I may try to install it as is for now until I find the right person to respray my front bumper and hood (both in need of a respray).

Will continue to update as I slowly make progress. In-laws are in town and heading up to Healdsburg for the first half of this week.

If you contact d.Moris, they have an english speaking lady named Amy who is great. PM me for her details. Happy to pass along other valuable info as well. They won't be responding now because they're french and don't work in August. It was a mini-miracle that they shipped mine at all, and even then made me feel like they were doing me a huge favor by doing their jobs and shipping my top. God Bless America. But they're actually really good and responsive.

Also helped harvest 2,000 lbs of Pinot Noir from the family farm.

So overall, a successful day.

Yup, and what it takes to pick up from duties. They shipped it via air freight, so it got here in 4 days after they shipped it, which was great. My total cost including shipping and the options that I described earlier was 3,601 euro. I paid an additional $155 at the airport for duties and a transport fee.

Happy to describe my experience with CPB (apparently the most corrupt arm of government according to a report I heard on the radio days after I picked my top up), my dealings with d.Moris, and obviously as I find myself with a few free moments, I will be taking off my soft top and putting this on.

Thanks, so for under $5000 you have a hard top.
Think that is a great deal considering what I have had to do to get mine ready to paint, then I have to finish the interior trim. But - I know it will stay on at 150 mph so it works and is really light at about 25 lbs with the lexan windows.
Really can't wait to see yours fitted and get the details. Looks like they do a good job.
What hardware / rubber fits did they send with it?

You can't expect every culture to behave the same as America, you just have to understand it and work around it. I'm glad you received your hardtop and that you are happy with it though. BTW, August is over so they'll most likely pick up the phone if you call on Monday.

Gus,

Yup, after all the fees/etc I think it came out to exactly 5,005 USD using a 1.3899 FX rate. I believe the OEM is 12.5k or so, and given what Ive seen so far, I'm more than happy with keeping 7k in my pocket and dealing with d.Moris.

I was being a little facetious about the perceived French laziness as that's obviously a stereotype, but dealing with them was funny given the stereotype b/c they were like, if you can't get your order in, we will have to wait until Sept when we return from vacation.

Like I said earlier. Cabs are available and you can still find one reasonably priced. They are definitely more than 5000 US dollars cheaper than a coupe, so if a clean sound cab can be found, it would be worth installing the D Morris top for the much desired coupe look. Depending on the fit and finish I think this is a very viable option. Imagine finding a cab with a bad or inoperative top, even further lowering the price of the car. I am very interested in this thread. I Can't wait for the results. I appreciate you guys sharing this experience. This forum is so valuable, not only to current 964 owners, but to future owners who can learn what to do before they do it. Thanks again and keep the updates and pics coming.
