Default B@57ards stole my rear lights.

Hi fellow 964ers,

I live in Fulham (UK) and my daily driver 964 is parked in the street. At approx 1am this morning some filthy @r5oles in a light coloured van stole my outer rear lights. A neighbour saw them but said they were gone before he could get to the door.

It is now reported to the Police who attended very quickly but I doubt they will be able to do anything.

If someone in a small white van is selling perfect rear lights let me know let me know.

Also is there any way of making my new ones more secure?

Also the headlights will be easy to take, is there a security fix for them too?( I have currently removed them) how sad is that!

Finally if any one has some tatty ones which will still pass the MOT I'd be interested in buying them at the right price. I am forced to stick tatty one on my lovely car so they are not stolen again.

Sadly this may mean I have to sell as I cannot afford the have my lights stolen on a regular basis and now they know where my car is parked it is easy picking for them.

Sorry to go but am not well paid and this car is my pride and joy and I have now lost my faith in man kind.

I have two (2) left rear lights that I am willing to part with. Let me know if you want them? PM me and I can get you a freight cost.
Cheers

You could use security screws to help deter thieves the next time around

Sorry to hear that FAB 911. I am in Fulham also and my 64 is quite often street parked. I have probably seen your 64 around......there are a few within a few blocks of each other.

There was a similar incident last year in Clapham.

Onceover - what size screws are the ones u have above. I am going to order a set.

Sounds like over there you guys have some pretty savvy thief's. I would use those screws you see in bathrooms that only turn one way unless you put effort into it. Maybe the torx they also use that has the hole in the middle. Here in Boston, I have I explain to women I date why I am not keen on leaving my car on the city streets. It is happy home at night in the garage with it's other 4 siblings. On second thought, maybe better to lose the lights then have them prying away at them and screwing up the sheet metal.
Should of read the post above mine first . Oh well.

Yup those screws will do it. Nothing to add except, I notice that you've never posted a pic of your car?!

Pics asap please!

Also there's a group of us 'London' 964 guys who meet up often. You should come?!

I'll give the security screws a try.

Black Betty. You have seen my car it's met. black with the viper green RS wheels and carrera stripe.

I don't post photos, unless I can upload direct it from my iphoto. I can manage to get photos on ebay, face book and gumtree but I have tried on forums seem to require a 3rd party which is just too complicated.

I'm just to old to learn. :-(

The security Torx bolt would be better than the Allen one as less folk are likely to have the tool to remove it in their tool box, Screwfix have them or you'll get them on eBay

That's the only downside to parking your car on the street in a nice area, the scum are attracted there like flies to the proverbial! With lots of rich pickings.

Maybe limit your potential losses by fitting a different one on each corner. It's unlikely a thief will in advance check all 4 corners are the same.

It's not like that's a slam dunk. I just sold one of my tail lights for $225 on ebay, which post fees and shipping hassle probably netted me $190-200. Just steal a hipster's iphone, which is a lot easier, smaller, and more valuable.

A quick update. I how have a pair of cracked lights on my car that are not worth stealing; bought off ebay. It's a shame as otherwise it's a lovely car. It is just not worth putting good ones on as I will have sleepless nights wonder if I have lights in the morning. Thanks for all you messages.

Figured I would bump this up. Apparently people like stealing the bumperette delete and fog light trim nowadays too.
