Default speedometer question

I am interested in sending my gauges out to get aluminum faces installed. I have read various post and am confident I can remove them without any hang ups however, when you reinstall them does it trigger a check engine light/fault code due to the gauges being disconnected? My friend installed a gauge face on his vw bug (easy to remove guage face in comparison to 911) and when reinstalled he had to take a trip to the dealer to clear a fault code. Thanks Steven

If you have airbag installed which according to your location you will make sure you DO NOT turn the ignition on whilst the clock is removed. When doing this kind of work I highly recommend you disconnect the battery and leave disconnected until the indicators are re-installed. If you have the clock out and apply power it is a trip down to the mechanics to have the airbag system reset with a Bosch Hammer.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll be sure to leave the battery disconected untill I get the gauges returned.
