Default 993 Vario Ram in 964?

Guys,

a buddy of mine has a Vario Ram from his 993 engine that he's not using.
He suggested to install it in my 964 (stock engine)

I know nothing so please bear with me...
Would it work?
Is it complicated?
What are the potential gains/losses?

Thanks a lot!
John

I stumbled across this a while ago: http://instant-g.com/Products/36Conversion/FAQs.html

May be of some help. I wouldnt bother doing it unless the current engine in the car is in need of a rebuild though.

just finished this job on the mrs 964:

not such a bad job but took me ages because I kept getting distracted onto other jobs on the car not really related to the swap. Is the 993 a C2 or C4? What about your 964? C4 or C2?

If the vram engine your mates got has sensible miles and a good price it might be worth a look as you can probably sell your engine for similar money.

Thanks Jevvy964

I would only get the Vram, not the whole engine.
My 964 is a C4, the 993 is a C2 (I think). Why does it matter?

My engine runs well. It just lacks low end torque...
