MPL slave cilinder
Hydraulic cylinders typically don't make noise. Can you tell where the squeak noise is coming from? Is it inside the car cabin or outside? If its inside the cabin, I would look at renewing the bushings and grease in your pedal cluster. If its outside the car, then I would remove your clutch slave and dab some grease on the end where it pushes on the throw out arm. If that doesn't fix it, then you will need to drop the engine and tranny and lubricate or replace the throw out arm shaft and lubricate the transmission input shaft.
I thought it was possible to drop box w/o engine and if that's so ... etc
1Shg - thanks for the pics - looks like a nice unit
You can pull the throw out shaft without separating the engine from the tranny but that doesn't do much good. The shaft is supported by roller bearings on each end. It will be very difficult to get grease to those with the tranny mated to the engine. If it were my car, I would just drop the engine, it doesn't take that long (4-6 hours depending on skills and practice) and you can then inspect and properly lube everything.
Probably the lazy way and not as effective, but, I greased the end of the slave cylinder in-place by getting my fingers through the access hole in the side of the bell-housing. Also, tried to feel with my fingers on the slave cylinder tip and release fork while the clutch pedal was being pushed in & out (I could tell by the roll of my wife's eyes that she was soooo happy to help out.....thanks honey!) if there was any vibration from the squeaking. Couldn't feel anything, but sure could hear that the squeaking was coming from inside the bell-housing. I'm thinking that it's probably the clutch release fork cross-shaft bearings that need lubricating.
The clutch works fine. I'm hoping I can just live with the squeaking until the time comes to replace the clutch. You can't really hear it when when the car is being driven anyways.

cheers Mixter .. was wondering about that approach - will give it a try.
See my broken bell housing lobe for one of the worst reasons for squeak, vibration and good pics/diagrams of the moving parts in the area

Thanks HiWind, really appreciate your tread.....very detailed and lots of good pics. Excellent idea and great fix with the modified boss. You've inspired me to investigate this area a little more.
