or buy some really expensive kevlar replacements
or leaver them off
the shocks that they bolt to can also be replaced, there are some fairly reasonably priced aluminum mounts available

Wow - lot of variety out there on the best way to vent. I got around to doing my rear a couple of weeks ago - did not want to cut up OEM bumper so ordered fiberglass unit and second Aluminum bumper.. As with most fiberglass stuff I buy it needed some attention to fit properly. I drilled the used bumper section - but not as many as seen in the above post. While I was at it added a PULSE Brake light and two additional brake lights and 4 additional tail lights in the center section. One thing I did do was make a "stand off" for the license plate. It now sits about 2 1/2 inches back from the bumper to allow for air flow out the center of the bumper behind plate. Any way here are a few pictures

Really interesting thread, on my list too.
Gus I like what you created, I think not only it will help hot air to flow out but it could also help reducing parachute effect from all the air trap under there.
