Sorry to have missed the get-together again. I still don't have my car put back together; and I had promised to get my nephews to SeaFair for the hydroplane races and, of course, the Blue Angels. I hope to make it to the next event, though!

Here's a few photos of the huge Porsche show (200+ cars) and our 964 group meet-up afterwards.

Default September 13 964 Olympic Peninsula Meet

Olympic Peninsula 964 social and drive: Saturday, September 13

Our largest 964 meet yet will take place Saturday, September 13 so mark your calendars and plan on joining!
Friends and Fans of the 964s are also welcome so feel free to come and enjoy the day with us! (If you show up in your Carrera GT no one will complain).

Our schedule for the day will of consist of several fun social activities and great driving through some spectacular scenery on the Olympic Peninsula. We have an independent photographer all lined up for the day so shine up your ride and come along!

Here is a basic rundown of the day. (Exact route details will be sent soon to those who RSVP).

Pre Meet: 9:30 at the West end of the Hood Canal Bridge This is for those coming from Seattle area who wish a back road route into Sequim.

Meet: 10:30-11:00 John Wayne Marina. This will be the main meet for those who need a little more sleep. A hard copy of the day's itinerary will be handed out and we will then head out on some fun back roads through the Farmland just to the North of Sequim.

11:30 Coffee and Car Collection Tour Conveniently on our route is the home of a local 964 owner who has offered us a tour of his great car collection. What all is there? I guess you will have to come to find out!

12:30 Group Lunch

1:30 Drive to Hurricane Ridge Amazing views and some fun twisty tarmac will make this a day highlight!

4:00 Tour and Tasting at Camaraderie Cellars Don Corson is the Peninsula's premier wine maker and his winery has graciously agreed to host a tour and tasting of their spectacular wines.

Make a weekend of it! The Olympic Peninsula boasts a lot of beautiful scenery, great activities, restaurants and fun roads to drive. For those who want to stay over and are unfamiliar with the area I will work up an info sheet of must see/do activities. If some wish a more 'spirited' route we can arrange something fun for early Sunday morning!

Hope you all can make it! Cheers!

Please RSVP to:

Default September 13 Meet Extra Info

For those of you from off the Peninsula who will be making a weekend trip of it I have compiled the following lists/info which may help in creating a great weekend experience. At the bottom I have included a few additional reminders for the drive/meet as well.

Places to stay:

Olympic Lodge http://www.olympiclodge.com is very nice, reasonably priced and arguably one of the nicest on the Peninsula (also independently owned). It tucks up against a small golf course that may be a bonus to those able to fit their clubs in their car (I've done it but might be tricky if your significant other wants to bring any luggage as well...) (Port Angeles)

Red Lion seems to be another favorite and overlooks Port Angeles waterfront: http://portangeles.redlion.com/?cm_m...PortAngeles-Ad

There are a lot of hotels in the area so if neither of the above options floats your boat try Priceline.com or similar site. There are also several Bed and Breakfast options that a quick internet search can reveal as well.

Places to eat:

Alderwood Bistro: Fresh and delicious with a nice wine and beer selection http://www.alderwoodbistro.com/ (Sequim)
SoHo Asian Bistro: Unique Asian inspired food (360) 417-8966 (Port Angeles)
Next Door Gastropub: AWESOME burgers and a rotating beer selection http://www.nextdoorgastropub.com/ (Port Angeles)
Sabai Thai: Above average Thai food http://www.sabaithaipa.com/ (Port Angeles)
The Haven: Small and funky breakfast joint. (Port Angeles) (360) 457-0352
Old Mill Cafe: We will be eating here for our group lunch. Great for breakfast or lunch. (Sequim) http://old-millcafe.com/
The Oak Table: Sequim's famous breakfast restaurant with all kinds of pancakes. (Sequim) http://www.oaktablecafe.com/

There is a lot more to choose from...these are just favorites.

Things to do:

Consider the Sunday morning group drive...will be a lot of fun and a bit different in character from Saturday's cruise. Will take just over an hour and will go through some beautiful scenery.
Sol Duc Hot Springs: Great place to soak for a day http://www.olympicnationalparks.com/...gs-resort.aspx (bonus drive along Lake Crescent to get there).
Olympic National Park trails: There are a lot of fantastic day hikes in the park. Too many good ones to list here...if you want to hike/run one let me know and I'll give you a recommendation on Saturday during the meet.
Dungeness Golf Course: Best golf on the Peninsula http://www.7cedarsresort.com/golf.html
Surfing: (yes we have surf...and it is fantastic) Board and wetsuit rentals at http://nxnwsurf.com/. Make sure to bring your racks...or ask your friendly local 964 owner who also has a Subaru.
Wine Tasting: We will be tasting at Camaraderie Cellars but there are two others worth noting: http://www.harbingerwinery.com/ and http://olympiccellars.com
Rock climbing: Some good stuff if anyone is interested. If you have gear, I will point you in the right direction...or join you if not surfing.
Kayaking: We have two outfits that sell and do tours: http://www.soundbikeskayaks.com/ and http://www.atkayaking.com/

Additional Reminders/Information for our drive and meet:

There is a parking lot on the South Side of the Highway that we will meet at for the Pre Meet. I will try and be there around 9 and we will leave promptly at 9:30. A turn by turn map will be handed out to everyone of our route. Please, RSVP if you want to do this as this will be a very long detour for me early in the morning.

Meet at John Wayne Marina 10:30 to 11:00: Most likely we will find a few spots together on the North end of the parking area. It is not a huge place so you will not get lost looking for the others.
Maps with turn by turn directions for the day will be handed out.
Our lunch venue is reserved but they have asked us to preorder so we will provide menus to order from at the Marina. This will help us keep on schedule and as a bonus we should not have to wait long for our food!

Hurricane Ridge:
Our drive goes into the Olympic National Park. If you have a National Park pass bring it along. Park admission is $15 without one.

Camaraderie Cellars:
There is a modest $5 fee for the tour and the tasting. They will usually waive the fee if you purchase a bottle.

Photographer:
We have photographer Curtis Cosens to document and organize photos for the day. Curtis has had work published in National Geographic Adventure magazine and takes amazing photos. Curtis is coming from Seattle as a favor for the day and will be providing digital photos for free to everyone on the drive. That being said, a suggested $20 hand shake from every driver will make a starving artist a little less starving and will help cover his expenses for the day.

I think that just about covers everything. Please contact me with any questions/concerns and I will do my best to get back to you promptly.

Hey PacNW 964s. Does anyone know of a trailer for sale? I will consider an enclosed or open trailer for taking my car to the track. Thanks in advance.

Default Bellingham Cruise

This next Saturday the 14th we will be cruising up Chuckanut drive to Bellingham come rain or shine. Weather forecast keeps changing its mind but we will have a go either way!
For those coming from the Olympic Peninsula there is a 7:55 Kingston Edmonds ferry we'll catch so if the whole group can meet at the Alderwood Mall at 9:00 that should work well. I am not personally familiar with the mall but it appears as if it is exit 181A off I-5. Google street view shows a Macy's there that will serve as a good meeting point. South side of the building has lots of parking.
From there, here is the route:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Macy%27s,+18700+Alderwood+Mall+Blvd.,+Lynnwood,+WA+98037/Boundary+Bay+Brewery+%26+Bistro,+Railroad+Avenue,+Bellingham,+WA/@48.0278905,-122.8665325,9z/data=!3m1!5s0x5490050ca6438b4f:0x663c92cc025a545b!4m29!4m28!1m20!1m1!1s0 x5490050b5e637025:0x9b97d1a60fd3e3fb!2m2!1d-122.27237!2d47.828877!3m4!1m2!1d-122.4392326!2d48.4447507!3s0x54856fca20317103:0x74e622cc708b304!3m4!1m2! 1d-122.4818312!2d48.5014444!3s0x548571129adeca0b:0x7214e70cd2e792c5!3m4!1m2 !1d-122.4442319!2d48.6323332!3s0x548575521623ba0b:0x27a30379992ec821!1m5!1m1 !1s0x5485a3b95e1c77e7:0x3f01b070ea61a5d2!2m2!1d-122.480948!2d48.747593!3e0
We'll have lunch at Boundary Bay Brewing. If everyone coming could please RSVP (including the # of passengers) I will make a reservation for us.
Afterwards, we can all cruise back down 1-5 although the Peninsula crowd may cut off and head back via the Port Townsend ferry via Deception Pass.
