Is there a thread somewhere that shows how to adjust the throttle cable and check that the plenum opens entirely at wot?

 

Have a helper hold the throttle wide open with the pedal, then you go to the engine and check if there is still movement left, i.e. Will the throttle move more before it hits the stop. If you still have movement adjust until there is hardly any play. You can adjust at the pedal or underneath the car where the cable comes out of the tunnel, or at the throttle.

 

Thanks...not having done it before, my question is, of you adjust the cable to pull the plenum farther open, does it still allow it to go back to fully closed?

 

The adjusting nut is on the back of the accelerator pedal. What you want to do is tension the cable so that the idle speed contact switch is activated when off-throttle



and the WOT switch is activated when the gas pedal is close to full-throttle.


There is about 5-10° of throttle opening available after the WOT switch clicks. So don't just adjust/tighten the cable till you hear the click or you will be leaving power on the table.
