So while you guys were discussing wheels, I found out its normal to have black gas come out of the filter. Gotta change that sucker more often than you think apparently.
Have no idea when it was last changed, but for all the **** people on here, I'm surprised there isnt more insistence on changing this guy probably in line with your air filter. It's like a $30 part, and all those performance mods may be for naught if nasty black gas is hitting your injectors.
P.S. still haven't started her up since doing all this - fingers crossed!

Tried getting some jobs done, not crazy successful.
Finally put in the new heating tube that was broken. The old one was both glued in and had a butterfly clamp thing, which caused a fair amount of frustration on my part as I couldn't get the new tube on without literally sanding off the old glue. This is after spending a couple hours pulling glue off my whale tail in anticipation of putting on the new gasket there.
Successfully finished that project.
Whale tail, less so. The gasket seems like it's about 5" too short and the tabs where you turn the gasket seem to be in the wrong place.
I also tried replacing the two front gaskets that are at the nexus of the hood, front fender, and A-Pillar. I tried pulling the old one out and got most of it out, but still some in there. Decided to fix the pasenger side door so I had access to what looked like a bolt that I might be able to loosen to help pull out the the remainder of the gasket.
So yeah, seemed like it snowballed a little bit and I ended up not getting very much done.
Also tried starting for the first time since changing the fuel filter, and it seems like I may have run down the battery a little bit, car tried a couple times then looked like it was running out of juice. Will probably jump tomorrow or whenever I try to start her up again.
Ah, so many little projects, so little time...

Because a lot of progress has been made:
Passenger side door fixed
Temp sensor replaced (two above done for $460 by my indie...couldn't do it myself)
For some reason my heat is still always on, but at least now I can turn off the fan in the cabin.
And some totally unrelated pictures for fun from this past weekend:

No hard top on yet, but I did replace my front seats. Finished driver side yesterday. Rears are a PIA, I got a special tool that I hammer and it untwists stuck bolts, but think I need a sledge to get it to work. Thanks to Shamus for the great deal on the seats.

Everyone warned me that there was no such thing as a sub-20K porsche. Based on my religious cost tracker, I'm at $19,824 (net of sales). I still need to install my hard top, rear leather seats, aero mirrors (arrived yesterday), new alternator fan and hub, cermaic oil temp sensor, fender seals, and driver's side door mechanism. All are included in my basis.
Things that still don't work that I'm not sure I'm going to be fuddling with anytime soon:
- A/C
- Soft Top. I think I'm going to part this out/sell it. Will go commando in the summer's and hard top in the winters.
- Windshield and it's crack
- Removing/fixing windshield wipers. Won't be driving in the rain.
- Respray of front bumper and hood

Thing I thought about yesterday as I was installing my RS door card - won't my cab without a top be a lot lighter than a coupe after I pull all the Cabrio parts out? The fiberglass D.Moris top I'm installing has to be dramatically lighter than the OEM sheetmetal roof, especially with a sunroof.
I realize the geometry of the cab is different than a coupe (hence specialized roll bars are required), but does that actually add any weight?

Projects coming along swimmingly...
New bumper was installed yesterday and looks great.
And of course, she's still a driver, took her out for one last run before pulling the wheels off and replacing the bumper.

Great eye and definitely concur I need the new hood. I already have a hood coming my way from another member (that matches the front bumper) so I'm pretty well sorted in that regard. I actually heard I should be getting the new hood next week potentially, so more pics to follow!
Guess what the total cost of fixing/painting my existing hood/bumper was?
$3,700. Oy.
