Default To Ducktail or not to Ducktail

So I have my lovely ducktail and 2.7 grille that I had on my targa. I'm getting the rust on the front wings done and while my guys has the gun out I'll get the duck sprayed Diamond Blue to match the new car.......(or do I keep it ziegelrotmetallic for a Magnus signature touch?)

Anyway either way on the colour what's the story with swapping a 964 deck lid for a fibreglass duck ? I know Johnny Tipler has one on his Peppermint Pig but with the owners manual screaming blue murder over problems with cooling if the spoiler doesn't raise, is this a problem ? And what about the aesthetics ???

What's the consensus over here guys ? I'm a massive fan of the duck, it would cut some serious weight off and reduce another layer of complexity to my lovely car.

But.....will it ruin it ??

Answers on a postcard please ;-)

Ducktail is fine and the ducktail acts as a permanently raised 964 lid in terms of cooling so will be fine.
I am going to do the same thing to mine but for weight saving reasons. My car is metallic (blue) and I do thinkl the ducktails look works best on non-metallic coloured cars as it gives them a more retro look, however for me weight is key!

Guys,

The guy who did my lightweight tin is making some for me. If you want to get some as well, his stuff is excellent quality. We could try to go in for a group buy. let me know if youre interested and I'll see what can be done.

Would that be Mr RH ? If so, count me in. I appreciate it's a speculation but any ideas on the weight?

No Idea. It is Roger.. not sure if that is who you meant.. I'll start a separate Uk thread on a group buy once I've spoken to him.

Hi Jack,

You may not know the answer yet, but would the kit come ready to fit (i.e. duck, grille, hinges etc)?

Cheers
Chris

Get a FG ducktail have it and the original painted with the car, then you can always revert back if you want....

Personally with all my recent cars having tail I like the simplicity of the flatback look...

That is precisely what we are considering doing.. and I also like the flatback look but it is a freaking heavy bit of kit.
