Cup Pipe or Performance Exhaust?
#16
I just installed a schnell cat-delete and it fit perfectly and looks like it is made well, their cup pipe should be just fine.

I have the schnell secondary bypass. I would say that it's worth the extra dough to get a higher quality version, because the couplings between exhaust pieces- their "mouths", if you will- have male ends and female ends in a stock exhaust. The secondary muffler in/out pieces have male ends that fit inside the output of the primary muffler and inside the exhaust tip piece to ensure a good seal and no exhaust leakage. The schnell piece has no male ends- it has female ends- so the piece had to fit with female-to-female ends on both ends. I had to run to Advance Auto and buy mismatched donuts to sit inside the joint and fill these gaps and ensure a better seal with no exhaust leakage... in the end you could say that it works but it certainly isn't a very elegant solution.

Fwiw i found a g pipe on eBay for 25 dollars last year. I will be removing my cup pipe and installing the g pipe and after will decide which to keep. I'll likely keep the g pipe and sell the cup. This one originally came from mr Alex...another lister and has gone to a few other guys before to me...so on it'll have to go to another lister...

I just have a g-pipe and the sound is loud enough but not annoying. No drone sound just raw porsche sound. It is throaty and clear. Try a g-pipe first before you spend money on other options.

Got a cup pipe and pretty happy with the sound. I'd love to add a sport cat but it's a bit pricey. Would love to hear a G-pipe in person to compare. If anyone in the Bay Area has the opposite of what I have I'd be more than happy to offer up a ride and compare and perhaps a beer afterwards. :-)

Good suggestion as I prefer to go step by step with my modifications with an overall plan in mind, of course!

I love my secondary delete+cat bypass. I'd really like to hear a cat delete+cup pipe in person one day.
I definitely think you should try both, down here in Georgia I get a lot of folks asking me if I have a V8 in it (take that as you wish). I personally like it, no drone and the sound above 4k is just intoxicating.

Has anyone run the Catbypass pipe and the Maxflo muffler? That seems to be the most common package for the 964 in my experience.
Please excuse the OLD video

the one's i've seen (including fabspeeds) appear to have two 'female' ends...unless i'm looking at it wrong.
can anyone else confirm (..suppose i could just go out and look under car )?

I heard a most unusual sounding 911 today. A 993 so not directly comparable to the 964 but instead of the deep bassy rumble it sounded almost like a flat plane Ferrari or motorbike. Really weird, but with a flat six undertone also really nice. Equal length headers joined centrally and one exit pipe with only a race catalyst and no silencer. The exhaust tip was very small and I'm guessing this was the reason for the unusual note. Was 2" maybe 2.5" diameter. Car originally from Japan so I have no idea who made it.
