I also considered the cold of winter, but the car is garage kept and used so little in the winter months that I didn't think it would be a big factor.

This should still be valid, it's still on Mobil's website-
http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...duct_Guide.pdf

0w40, and 5w50 have 1100 ppm zinc.
15w15 has 1300 ppm.

Any of those should meet our requirements, as far as I know. I run 5w50 in the cold northeast months and 15w50 in the summer.

Not to discount vr1 or Brad Penn, but they don't make anything other than a thick, summer, 20w50.

I used Valvoline VR1 for about 18 months but switched back to Shell Rotella. The reason was I like to drive the car year round and the VR1 get extremely thick when cold, especially below freezing. It flows like honey at 32 degrees and that just can't be good for cold starting.

Just to give an update. I ended up ordering a case of Brad Penn 20w50 from Summit Racing yesterday with free shipping. It seems I couldn't really go wrong with either. I'll leave it in until the winter and see how it is in the cold. If need be I'll switch to a thinner oil, but from some research it seems it should flow in the colder months even though it seems thick. Thanks for the help everyone.
