Default Throwing 964 caution to the wind...

Today was Easter Monday, a public holiday over here...

Me, I threw caution to the wind and enjoyed the last day of Easter in my own special way. Fitted my laser detector and tonked my little 964 anywhere and everywhere. Traffic light to traffic light bursts, open stretches of highway running it right up to redline through the sound barrier when the little car changes tune in every gear at around 6000rpm, right up through all the gears all the way to top-end when the little thing started feeling a tad loose on the road, followed by some spirited solo canyon carving up and down the local mountain pass with the tires screaming and eventually finished the day off with some late afternoon slow cruising along the coast with the sunroof open at sunset.

Thing is, every time I gave it stick, the little 964 kept asking "that's all you got? - Gimme MORE of that man!"

It's everything a 911 should be. Special little car...

Reading this makes me think I should invest in a radar/laser detector myself. I generally know where I can and can't safely go fast, but sometimes on the 20th time through that particularly nice piece of road there's a cop sitting right there. I'd rather have the piece of mind knowing with 100% certainty there's no police around the next bend than risk a nasty ticket as I have so many times in the past.

I had a particularly good one last September, almost redlining 4th gear on a straight section of interstate before slowing down for some traffic up ahead. Sure enough while I turn into the bend there's a state trooper right there, radar gun out, pointed right at me. I slowed to below 80 mph a split section before he saw me. If the road was empty he could've had me at 100+. That'd be fun to explain in court.

Great story Pierre! Sounds like tons of fun.

Stephen, I've used Valentine 1s for years now, and i believe them to be the best. Even with the best though, there is a fairly good chance that you wont detect an officer looking for speeders, especially the ones who aren't lazy who dont want you to know they're there. This is even more true if you're in an area where laser is prominent, like im sure most metro areas are. Laser is almost impossible to detect until it has already gotten you.

Now, laser jammers are a different story...

PASSPORT 9500ci its pretty expensive, but its the best IMHO. Detector and jammer in one and its discreet. Just make sure it isnt against the law in your state. Its not illegal to jam or "shift" signals here in NC.
