Default New RSA owner...

I jumped on J Richard's thread last night because I couldn't contain my excitement. Today I took delivery of my new car... a 1993 Midnight Blue RSA with 70k miles, AC, no sunroof, and (unfortunately) no LSD. I stumbled upon the car and had no idea (until last Friday) that there was so much enthusiasm for this model. It will join my '88 in the garage.

I am the 3rd owner. I bought from a PCAer who has owned the car since 3850 miles. Light on mods.... B&B exhaust, Ruf front spoiler lip, Fikse wheels, harness bar, Alpine head unit and Infiniti speakers. I got all of the the original parts except for the Cup 1s.

I have a refinished set of Cup 1s on their way thanks to a forum member. I plan to save those for street and use the Fikses if/when I take the car out to the track.

So now the dilemma.... with values going up, better to recondition a bit and save for weekend driver OR do some more track-focused mods and use it as intended?

PS- I also had a nice set of factory turbo Fuchs left by the UPS guy. Pretty fun day!

Look forward to learning more about the RSA with the help of this forum and its members.

I had a midnight blue RSA years ago. Def want to get the suspension sorted, and really that's all the car needs. I saw the turbo Cups you bought, sweet! I have that set up on my C2 now with 225/55 and 255/45 rubber and love it.

I have a white no sunroof RSA inbound, which I am hoping to see in a week or two. Can't wait. These are very cool cars, and for some reason drive and handle better than C2's with like set-up's.....go figure

I would not take it any further than suspension mods. The value is keeping the car stock, I believe. Suspension work does not alter value.

Enjoy and Congtrats. What did you end up doing with Jeff's red GT3? I came so close to buying that car before you bought it. That was an awesome car!!!

Sold the red GT3 a couple years ago to a Canadian RL member. He is active in the Cup and GT3 forums. I replaced it with a .1 GT3 RS that, ironically, Jeff came up and hauled away for one of his friends last month. Both cars I wish I could keep but the lower cost of entry on the RSA leaves more room to "play".

Yes, I will keep the Cup 1s for street and throw some R-comps on the Fikses. Not sure which tire yet. Maybe NT-01s.

I am trying to decide if I should track it or buy another car for that purpose.

Love your white car!

tasman- did you replace the RS?

Todd, nice!

Congrats. Unless the thing is a time capsule I'd drive it. Suspension work is totally fine IMHO the suspension is really a consumable anyway. The cup swaybars are a nice add too.

The next step of reversible mods are a set of recaro PolePositions just like the euro RS and a better steering wheel, Momo mod7. Those two mods seem insignificant but are huge due to the fact that they are your primary connection to the car. Transformative, and completely reversable. Mixed results on the LWFW, I wouldn't for a street driven car.

They are fun cars...enjoy!

Thanks PJS. Won't be able to hang with you guys but should be fun.

Jim- I have a nice Sparco wheel and quick release hub I can use. I also have a set of GT3 Recaros with Alcantara inserts on the way. I know, a little big for the 964, but I figure I can make them work and have them available for the next, inevitable, GT3. I will have to look into suspension stuff and I have a call in to Matt at Guard for a diff. I think you're probably right... for the little I will actually drive it, might as well go out and enjoy it.

As nice as the RSA seats are you will be shocked at how heavy they are, they weigh a TON! Plus you can get your butt down on the floor. Went around and around on a GT3, as good as they are, I prefer the lightly tweaked RSA. You may not go back...

Jim,

Do you have a source for the RS sway bars?

If you don't mind you may post me a PM around what the RSA cost.

That too, seats.

If you're doing the clutch, I'd say go for the single mass flywheel for sure. For a daily bumper to bumper driver, maybe not, but a sunday toy... I daily with my LWFW, I learned manual on it, and I have a neuropathy. Every downshift is worth it.

Jim Patrick ordered the last set for me, they came right from porsche. They are more expensive but they work the best. The rear drop links are the same, if you do end up getting a set I still have a brand new set of front RS drop links.
