Could you paint the inside of the headlight bucket body coloured? The parking light wouldn't stand out so much, and give it a better finish? Especially on a dark coloured car

Liking the look a lot.

What I meant was can you change the beam for driving abroad? Not buying a LHD set to install when I go across to France!!

I like the look of these, especially when the glass is the right way up
There was a thread where a guy in the states made his own, did a really great job of it too. I PM'd him, but after a great thread, He seemed to have disappeared and didn't respond to my PM.
Apart from Jetta's original thread and his pictures, nobody else that has them fitted has really reported if they are worth the $700 price tag!

Orp -

If you ever get a chance, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the beam pattern on low beam. How much better it is than OEM, is it lighting the right area, are you concerned about dazzling oncoming drivers, etc.

The reason I'm asking is that I've got an AP Design kit on my car, which looks pretty cool and is very, very bright, but the low beam pattern is awful and I actually try to not drive at night now because I'm concerned about distracting oncoming drivers. I've spent a lot of time and money trying to get it sorted, as I can't go back to OEM. I'm trying to find a solution now and the D Zug kit may be it (which would be annoying given that the AP Designs are twice as expensive as the D Zugs and are only 2 years old).

Thanks, ben

Are Paul Stephens not doing their own kits now, or are they bought in?

I guess it could be done but with a $700 price tag, I'd rather not fiddle with them. In any case, I think they look great on your car and as other said, please post your thoughts on beam pattern.

As I understand it, this type of head lamp requires a wash system in the UK in order to pass the MOT.
I'm having my bumpers and side skirts painted and had considered deleting the head lamp wash.
Does any know if this is true or not?

The HID "myths" have been clarified in the latest MOT manual See here:

You'll have to dumb it down for me Harry, it looks like you still need a washer to me. I deleted mine

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.
I think the operative word here is "may", it doesn't say "must" be fitted. In other parts of the MOT instructions it does use the word "must". So I would take that as, when inspecting HID units which may have self-levelling or washer systems they must work. Obviously in that case, if they aren't fitted it isn't relevant.

Cheers,
Paul

He's putting something together now for his latest build. He's told me that he's trying to get something that he can sell as a unit, particularly after all of the trouble we've had with the AP Design units on my car (in addition to the issues I mentioned above, the ballasts were so cheap we threw them out immediately). Not sure how much it will cost though...
