Northeast is a big region.

Auto associates comes to mind in canton ct, full service, great work.
Specialty cars maybe in Allentown, pa, but he's more of a general contractor, he'll do the mechanicals and he has shops for paint and interior.

Bavaria Auto Werke have a good rep, and they're right in the centre of town.

Thanks.....researching costs involved in a 964 restoration project. Trying in get into the brand with minimal initial outlay then DIY as much as possible.

Also; What condition car could I expect to find for $4-5k??

When you say North-East, which country?

References to shops in Aberdeen UK as well as the US above...

If you're in the NY/CT/NJ area, you also have Rennwerke in Elmsford at your disposal. Instantly Google-able for first-hand experiences. I can say that walking into their garage I've stumbled upon (figuratively, mind you) some of the most impressive machines I've seen.

I'm no professiional but a 4-5k$ car will require 20-40k$ in any restoration shop in the Northeast to be made nice again. Why don't you look for a 20k$ car and be done with it?

I saw a salvage title rollover C4 recently; sold at auction for over $10k. I doubt you'll find anything worth buying for $4-5k; hell, the motor alone would fetch that.

+1 . You can also try Jim Newman in CT or Pino Angiulli Milan auto body in Clifton NJ. He has restored some serious early 911's that sold for multiple hundreds of thousands lately and will work with you on projects.

As others said it isn't going to be cheap even if you do a lot of the work. Finding any 964 for under $10k that is barely running will be next to impossible. Rolling chassis are bringing over $10k.

911s are not in his price range unless he is looking for a total wreck.

For $4-5k, I would recommend starting with a solid front-engine model (924/44, early 928) or maybe a rough 914.

Thank you, point well taken. I know that would be a more ideal situation, however I am not able to provide all of the funding at once. I was hoping a 4-5k$ car would be a car I could drive while I restore it. Restoration would be done in phases so that costs for braking, suspension, motor & interior work could be spread out over time.

As I see now a car in the 4-5k$ range is an unrealistic expectation.
