Once off the hub there seems to be a maddening tiny bit of a clearance problem between the shaft and the rear body tub. Anyhow, with lots of cussing, and finally a bit of judicious prying, I got it out. I had it powder coated with a metallic grey finish. It looked great- for about a week! Then I noticed that the finish was failing in a few spots. I took it off again, and had a "discussion" with the shop that did it. They explained that some of the materials used were more heat resistant than others, so they re-did it, using the same color as M-B wheels. That has lasted really well, and still looks great. Sorry- No dig camera. Even if I DID have one, I would have to find some kid to show me how to post! Trust me- looks geat. Not original that is obvious, but then the original, unmolested fans usually look crappy. I thought about various colors, but decided on the understated look.
