No clue about 993.

Pot, kettle, black.
Had a 993 that I bought new for nearly four years. Could easily have another one at any time. Prefer the 964.

Great thread! (Ignoring 993 trolls)
My first drive in a 911 was passenger (age 12) in a '73 RS Touring... A friend's dad took me to Pop Warner football practice, and yes - I was wearing my shoulder pads! That (along with an extensive Matchbox collection of 911s) closed the deal. I was a Porsche nut - for life. Started saving then and bought '79 SC Targa while in college. That car was so popular in college, I can think of at least 5 other guys who are now Porsche owners b/c of it...
Fast forward to being able to BUY one new in 2000. Ordered a triple black Cab, and then went to pick it up. It didn't feel right. $100k+ car, and it felt (ahem) cheap. Walked from the buy, and went to look for....you guessed it - a mint RSA and mint Speedster. Found the Speedster, but never the *mint* RSA at a reasonable price point.
I love the 964 b/c it looks and feels like the last of the 911 lineage. I never got used to the 993, and honestly still don't like the looks. The 996 was the worst 911 ever built - cheap, unreliable, but clearly profitable.
My favorite 911 for the street? Late 70s/early 80s (the SC). Why? Because at 55mph you can feel like you are hauling ***!!!!!! You feel every pebble, the steering is heavy, and the engine is loud. Raw, visceral, engaged - you guys know the feeling... What I love about the 964 is that is has that 911 soul, but is a bit more modern.
I'll ALWAYS have a 964 in my garage. I want the 94 Turbo, 94 C4 Widebody, 93/94 RSA, 92 US Cup, 92 America Roadster, and the list goes on...

Gents we need to stop talking about value at some point!
I know we're in an exciting period regarding the 964s increasing appeal/ price; however let's not forget what makes this car special is that we drive and modify them to no end.
I hope we don't eventually find ourselves like some 993 owners, just talking about values and congratulating each other on being masters of the universe with cotton wrapped 911s.

If anything - I wish the prices would come down. My RSA is now approaching probably north of 55k in value and it makes me scared to throw it around and hoon it on the daily.
If it was still worth around 30k like when I bought it, i'd feel more comfortable sliding it around on a track than i do currently.
