Default What is the +- tolerance on the valve clearance??

Anyone know if there is a published tolerance for the 0.1mm valve clearance??

I ask as in another thread a chap suggest using a dial meter for the clearances and so a tolerance would be good to know.

Also, what is the torque on the hex tightening nut on the rocker. THe manual syas loosen the nut, adjust clearance and tighten the nut - but doesn't spec a torque??

My guess is since the picture shows a guy using a ring spanner, tight means tight, but no specific torque.

Torque on the lock nut - I wondered that too. It doesn't say in the manual or Bentley. I used about the same force as it took to undo them.

The workshop manuals recommend a torque of 9.7 Nm or 7 ft lbs of tightening torque. I never had a torque wrench that precise though so I used the same method of making them as tight as they were when they came off.

As far as valve tolerance, I couldn't find anything, but I recall for some reason that there was a +- 0.01 mm tolerance. I think it might have come up in a discussion somewhere a long time ago but I couldn't find it to verify. So don't hold me to that, it is just a random, lost bit of statistical trivia floating in my head that could have gotten attached to the wrong thing.

I think 7 lbft is the setting for the valve cover nuts, isn't it?
