Default Wheel balancing

Guys,

Perhaps an obvious question, but I need confirmation.

I just got a new (to me) set of rims/ tires for my 964. Should I take them to a tire place for balancing before mounting on my car? Any reason to mount on my car first?

What about adjusting camber /caster? Will this impact the wheel balance?

No, caster and camber will not affect wheel balance. I would mount one side first, just to see how your new wheel/tires fit the car before you spend any money them, if you like them and the fit is good, go ahead and have them balanced.

Thanks! Do any of you adjust camber yourselves and if so, is it a relatively simple thing? I do plenty of my own work, but I've never done suspension fitting.

I adjust my own camber - but it is not something that can be done without gauges and a level surface. I have made a a set of adjustment platforms that the car sits on and allows me easy access for adjustments. If you are doing camber you need to be able to do toe as well.
