Recommended suspension set up to achieve ROW ride height and improved performance for
I’m looking to adjust my USA market 91 C4’s ride height to the ROW specifications (or somewhat close) and improve the road (not track) handling. I’m not looking to drop it so much that I have significant scraping issues or that it looks “slammed”. Any suggestions for spring/strut/shock combinations?

My engine builder is telling me to go with just springs/ shocks. When I mentioned kW he laughed. Personally I've always had good luck with them but he is adamant that I avoid it

KW V1s are awesome and far more than you need. The Bilstein HD/H&R Reds (I think they are now actually purple or so I've heard) are also likely more than you need but are still a LOT less expensive than Porsche suspension and are very nicely tuned for 964 street use. They will actually sit a tad lower than ROW but are not in any way "slammed". I use this setup myself and I'm very happy with it.

I have V3's but I had them initially set in the midrange of their adjustability, where the V1's are said to be. Was totally transformative to the overall experience. Ergo, V1's are great.

Very strange that he thinks that. I think you'll find nothing but praise for KWs on this 964 board.

Another vote for KW's. I have a set of V3's and they completely transformed the car. If you don't need the adjustability then the V1's would be my choice. I decided on V3's so that if I wanted to track the car in the future I have the option to change the rebound and firmness.

Hmm, has he had any actual experience with them, not many of us in the US are running KW. They are very popular in the rest of the world and the choice of many top shops. I guess if you compared them to Moton or MCS you could have a laugh but next to Pss10 or HR not so much. When it came down to pick the set up for the 964, KW v1 was an easy choice after having owned both pss9 on my 993, KW v3 on my wife's TT. If you hold off on you suspension until the spring I will drive up to Boston so you can go for a ride in my car to see how the spring rates and valving feels.
