Anyway to jump start from engine compartment?
 

Hi,

Was on vacation for the past 1 1/2 weeks and in the past few days we have had some snow.

When I went out to the car this morning the battery didn't have enough power to start the car. I would like to jump start the car, but the frunk is frozen shut and I can't get to the battery.

Is there anyway I can jump the car from the engine compartment? Otherwise, I will have to rigg up a charger to try to charge the battery enough through the cigarette lighter.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. And, it has started snowing again.

My frunk was also frozen on my 80 sc. Not my 964, but same basic idea. I used a rag and a fist and beat the snow with the rag to buffer the blow. It broke up the snow and then pushed it off and frunk opened. Didn't dent the hood as I beat it on the hood and where fender meet.

Yeah, I did this, but the water seems to have frozen the rubber seal to the hood and I beat on it as hard as I think I can without causing any damage.

I just need to get it started and then it will charge and I'll be ableto move it to a warm garage so things melt.

I am not aware of how to jump from the rear. You could prob turn key and use another batt to jump the starter, but that would be a bitch to get to. I guess be patient with your lighter charger. How about Hot/warm water from inside the house in a pitcher and pour on the frunk edge?

Oh, I also used a pice of thin plastic under the trunk lip at bumper and carefully got it to pop. Yikes…See it in the background covered in snow? Haha.

Thanks to everyone for all the help, my jury–rigged cigarette lighter charger charged the battery enough for me to get the car started. I was then able to move it into a somewhat warm garage where several hours later I was able to open the frunk. Now I have the charger hooked up to the battery and charging.

Boy, what a day.

Well, there ya go. Now leave that poor car in the garage out of the ****ty, salty roads in NYC!

Oh, by the way, I am not saying don't drive it in winter, I drive my 964 all winter. I just wait till the roads are dry, and as little white salt dust as possible. Sometimes it could be as long as two weeks. I could never last all winter not driving it.

Nope, she's a daily driver, she goes out everyday rain, shine or snow. And, she has snow shoes too.

And, she gets rinsed often to ensure salt issues aren't an issue.

Life is short, I guess why save it for the next guy. (Cringe) HA.
