New member intro
Hi all,
I am a new member from Australia and I am currently have an idea of buying a 964. Firstly I have been in a trance since watching the Singer 911 and it is taken over me. HELP!!!!!! My idea is to get a 964 remove the front/ back bumpers and replace them with older 68' style bumpers if at all possible. As well a different bonnet etc. As you guys no doubt will be shaking your head at a crazy idea but know doubt it has been done before maybe on here even? I like the lines of the 964 and also the 3.6 L as well!!!!! So just trying to bring it back to old school a bit and I have a thousand other ideas. Just a mixture between Magnus Walker/ Singer and myself. I was going to go down the route of a 68' 911 and put the bigger engine in but I think the 964 is the easiest option. Any help/ links or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Jim

G'Day mate!
Yup, cant deny the allure of the classic magnus cars and the backdated singers. 911 dreams at their finest.
You can backdate a 964. Bumpers, mirrors, hood, wheels etc. if you can score stainless window trim, it helps make a backdate perfect.
Price out the parts and labour first. If you cant swing it, a 964 with a proper suspension, seats, good exhaust, wheels and steering wheel can be a really nice, simple 911.

Yes it is an uncontrollable magnetic force all right.
So I was looking at making a fair bit myself like my own singer style front bumpers and all the other stuff as most other projects I have seen so far seem to use a pre purchased fibreglass bumpers and they all look pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong they look good but not great. Just need a cheap donor car (964) in Australia to tear apart and kick it off. Also I would like to put the 3.6 onto carbs. Then I can remove most of the 1000 wires etc. I am old school and you cannot beat carbs. Yes fuel injection has it's many advantages but simplicity is the key for me. It may not be the most fuel efficient but at least you can clean out the engine bay to see the engine. Is the 3.6 the engine to go with or is it just the biggest?
