It's all part of my campaign to rid the world of cassettes. I find it astonishing that car manufacturers still fit head units equipped with cassette players. Does anyone still use them??

I can understand their comments about 'short-term fix' to sell the car. Mine had clearly been done before (probably before I bought it?) but this all washed off when Leathercare cleaned the seats. There are clearly many ways to skin a cat (hope this translates!)
Leathercare have told me that mine will last several years and that if necessary, the seats can be done again. Apparently only solvents will remove the latest reconnolising. Their process is essentially the same as when the leather is tanned originally, and the paint & lacquer were solvent based, not water based.
The other useful thing that Leathercare did was to swap the seat backs over - I now have the better passenger seat back on the drivers side. This should help prolong the life of (what was) the drivers seat.
It does sound like yours are pretty worn, but there was a recent post from someone who had just the bolsters retrimmed for £150 ish (I think) - Leathercare could then do the rest...
Would probably be worth talking to leathercare, as they may also be able to repair the seat before reconnolising. May be worth emailing a photo of the seat to them...
Hope you get them sorted.

I've got a few days off in a couple of weeks. Was planning to visit Southbound for a chat - think I may head to Leathercare as well. It's a long drive but since it has the potential to save me quite a few £££s it's got to be worth it. Even if they can't do anything all I've lost is a tank of petrol.

I remember speaking to a guy who'd had his, cough, 924S front seats retrimmed by a Midlands company for about £500 a pair. Looked good, too.
Sorry, I don't know who the company was, but maybe someone else can help?

Leathercare have an 'associated' company in Essex somewhere (Benchmark Leather I think). They used to work together at Connollys and share the same working practices I believe. May be nearer to you...

Dave,
Benchmark Leather are in Danbury, I phone Mark and apparently he and the guys from Leather care used to work together, he says that they are the only ones to do the proper connolly treatment, and used to work for them, before connolly went wobbly.
Cost for 2 seats is 250 if you take the car to him, no vat.
I spoke about photographing the work and he said that it would be ok to do so.
I'll be seeing him sometime next week.
