Default Am i crazy?

Really considering selling my 335 and buying a 964/993. I've never actually driven one, but I've always wanted one.

I know it won't be as fast as my 335(meth, fbo) but I just love the look and sound of these cars.

Best thing to look for in used 964's? Rebuilt engine?

Also c4 or c2?

Will a booster seat fit in the rear?

It will be a daily driver.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

You need to drive a few before you take the plunge. A 335 is a very different car to a 964 or 993, especially as a daily driver. I couldn't live with my 964 daily, especially in town. My E46 330 is much more comfy and useable around town. They are 20 year old cars now.

However, many guys on here would tell you that a c2 or c4 make a great daily driver! Different strokes. Try a few cars and go from there. My advice would be to keep the 964 for weekends and buy a runaround for commuting.

Good luck!

My 993 C4S is my only car and my daily driver. It works just fine. That is, because my expectations meet my needs.

You really need to know exactly what you expect from a car, and then drive a 964/993 and see if it matches those needs. It's a very subjective and personal thing, so no one else can decide for you.

And yes, a booster seat can fit in the rear

I had a "slightly" tuned 335 several years ago. It's a totally different drive. Haven't looked back since

If you go to bed thinking about a 911, buy one. No one ever dreamed about a 3 series.

+964. Got mine about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Never drove a car like this. I get excited everyday just cuz I know I'm gonna drive her to work. Yes, she's my daily.

Owned a 335 Cabrio for 3 years and at the same time I also have my 964.

To me they are completely different cars.

The 335 was my daily driver in the summer. In the winter I had a V8 Touareg.

The 964 has been my Sunday car only.

Not sure I would ever consider using my 964 as my daily driver.

The 964 is still my favorite car to drive ..... just not for a daily driver.

I think the cars are perfectly good for a daily driver, its just that I wouldn't necessarily want to use it as one. Lugging it through traffic would just seem like a waste to me, I'd rather take it out when I can let it stretch its legs a bit. But it would also depend on where you live, etc. Here in Brooklyn, traffic is a way of life.

My only car is my 964. It's my daily driver. Probably commute to work 2, 3 times a week (85 mile round trip). I do this because I love driving her not just because I can. I have a set of winter tyres, the car is going to be re waxoyled over the next couple of weeks and whatever the salty roads throw at her she's going to have to take. I had the engine rebuilt to be strong not just for performance. I have two small kids and they both fit in the rear seats and much fighting about who gets the front seat. I really don't see the need to compromise. Traffic can be a pain but the aircon and heat work in mine and the stereo is about to be done, so even if I am stuck in traffic at least i'll be warm/cool and have good tunes to listen too. When the traffic thins, the stereo is off and I let the engine do the singing.

Mines 23 years old, it's a grown up and knows what to do and how to have a good time and she works within her limits. If I could just apply the same rules to myself...

Pull the trigger. Invest in fun.

I took the plunge in January of this year, seriously have not looked back once.

I use my car as my weekend/afternoon/anytime I am not at work driver and I can't be happier.

Look for a well sorted example, although I've seen a few members here rescue some hard loved 964's

Best of luck!

What state do you live in? Get the 964, it's an awesome car. See if it fits your lifestyle as a daily driver, if not you can go lease a Honda for $200 a month.

My 964 has become my only car - daily driven 7 days a week, and I love it. Occasionally, I wince when I think about the wear and tear - especially rock chips, wear to the interior, but the drivetrains on these are pretty robust. The kids (18months and 3 years) love it too!
