Default Manual steering rack from RS America

My shop says there is a market for these and that it is worth over $3000.

If this is true, mine is for sale as I am going to put in a power steering rack and other bits from a cup car.

I would say that the market would bear about half that.

Thanks Kai. Guess I need to have him sell it

I've sold plenty of take off parts before, but never a steering rack. Could it even be shipped?

Sure.

I sold mine to Bob, one of our RL'ers, in Atlanta. It shipped out of Rothsport in Portland.

You'll LOVE the electric steering pump and rack!!!

Looking forward to it as the manual steering is a workout for a little guy like me(135lbs).

Next question is what type of cars are the market for the rack? In other words is there a specific model that desires these more than another or just list it for sale in the general for sale area?

Also would low mileage increase the value at all? Only ~20,000 miles on my rack.

I can't help you with resale value; however, I would suspect that this is would be a very popular upgrade for the 964 C2 crowd that tracks their car. I've never driven a Cup car, but in my opinion, the manual rack is a huge improvement over the C2 power steering.... unless you are parallel parking.

More than one 993/964 C2 guy would like to have the RSA rack.

Mine was a 40K mile rack and sold in less than one day (with three backups) for $1.5K if I remember correctly.

One of my favorite mods (ummm...the entire car is one big mod, is it not?) was/is the RSR pump. With the biggie slicks up front, the manual steering left me exhausted.

There is definitely a market for it 964/993 circles. I liked mine in the RSA back in the day. Very precise on the road and at the track but it was a PITA in parking lots and garages. Still not too bad considering the front of the car is quite light.

Post over in te racing forum also (in addition to the cup forum where you have). They pop up every now and then, but get gobbled quickly.

I do see that someone has the correct TRW pump, lines and the a harness fabbed as a complete kit for $1,400. Easy and probably worth it.

You can recover that with your manual rack.

I shipped mine to Germany in 2010 for about $1500. I found the RSR pump on ebay. Check ebay Germany, it's also the same pump as in a euro VW Polo

Am I correct that the manual steering rack is no longer available for purchase from parts suppliers?

I bought Kai's RSA rack for a car that is intended to be used 90% touring back roads and cross country trips. The character of the car is a bit early car sport purpose but not a backdate. More an infusion of old world in a modern platform.
Not sure I would make this change if it was a city driven daily driver.
