I have mentioned on other posts during my motor drop for new clutch etc about my having to replace my tranny mount. I purchased a Turbo kraft semi solid mount to replace the original as there were not many other options avail and it was less then half the price of the stock unit.
This mount makes the car very loud inside. You hear every whine of the transmision, lots of vibratrions and I can even here throw out bearing noise and dual mass noise when in reverse. Anybody else want to share their experinces with using this mout, and if they lived with it or replaced it?
Maybe I just need to be told how cool it is to have race car like noise in the car so I keep it.
Haha, no thanks. I just replaced the sound pad with a new one. The new one they sell at vertex and pelican for $58.00 is a pice of crap. Thin and feels really cheap, does not have the harder shell/outer layer. I hope to hear other peoples opinion about this tranny mount..
yep this semi-solid mount is going to do that, all of the aftermarket mounts will for the most part.
As you seem to like a nice quite ride, you might just bite the bullet and pay a little more for the OEM replacement part. I am sure that you would be able to sell the one that you have installed currently to someone here.
Sunset wanted $350 or something. I have not had a chance this week for much seat time, Boston has been a little wild this week. I did go out tonight and while driving thought maybe I should get a primary bypass pipe and I may not even notice or care as much..
The race car effect is growing on me..
The old mount was cut out, and was not going to try this product you have mentioned before to only then have the nightmare ofremoving old coller with motor and tranny reinstalled. Witht the Turbo Kraft being installed now, it will be very simple to unscrew and remove and install a diferent one.
Thanks for the suggestion anyways. I will prob just live with it. My 3 yr old had no complaints today after her first ride with this mount...
I decided today after driving around for a long time today, that I am going back to stock tranny mount. I have some paranora about my clutch job, and that maybe my dual mass is making a different sound etc. The motor just sounds different as well and has me a paranoid driver. I need to have original mount back in to put to fears that my motor out job was done right and all is well. I have no reference point with this Turbo Kraft mount making so much racket and vibrations. The biggest thing to me is I am cringing as I nail it and bring it up near redline. Anybody else able to hear the slappin around of the DMF and throw out bearing with one of these Tranny mounts and Wevo's installed when letting clutch out, especially in reverse? And the new clutch works perfect.
I put Wevos on my car and was paranoid about noises as well. I ended up pulling oil filter and cutting it open to look for metal debris (Oil filter debris)
TL;DR Nothing tested positive for metal. I removed Wevos and installed 993 mounts. Very Nice.
