Default Oil Draining

Hi,
I've just had to replace the elbow pipe from the engine that comes off the rubber hose that comes from the inner drivers arch.
I undid the oil drain plug on the engine - drained it and changed the pipe - some more oil did come from the pipe when I disconnected it which I thought was a bit strange as it's higher than the sump plug.
Anyway I've changed the pipe strained and replaced the oil.
I havent run the car except to move it out the garage.
I've just been browsing the forum and came across this...

OMG have I damaged my car or will it be ok?
Please advise - I will be taking it for a full service soon also.

Wait...so basically you just drained the sump, plus (I presume...a lot of) oil spilled out of the rubber pipe*...but you just filtered it and put it back into the engine?

I'm thinking that there wouldn't be any harm in what you did...

*which is normal if the oil tank wasn't drained beforehand

Yes, that's what I've done.
I was just worried if I could have caused an airblock or something.
(total novice here!)

Thanks for the advice.

Must have been quite a big mess

Check the oil level again when it's all warmed up tho.
