Default 993 and now 964 owner

I wanted to add a 964 in addition to my 993 C2. So I just picked up 1991 C4 coupe which was just delivered this Sunday. Some of you may have seen it in another post:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/964-C...orcev4exp=true

I was looking for a C2 coupe but could not pass up the condition, mileage, upgrades and price of this C4 coupe. And when the car arrived it was exactly as stated. I talked to the previous owner before buying over the internet--yes there are some nice cars that are reasonably priced (not dealer marked up). Anyways, impressions and comparisons--see attached pics:

The C4 seems to hug the road better, but also feels a little heavier up front. Accelaration seems even, 5 speed not as smooth as 6 speed. The 993 is a polished version of the 964, as the 964 is a polished version of the 3.2. I love them both, as you might guess I love the new addition 964.

Both great cars.... I came from the 993 world and bought my 964 C4 a year ago. Very happy with it. Has stock suspension and stock set up so it pushes terribly. I haven't put the energy to get rid of the understeer. Other than that, I don't mind the heavier feel and I love the engine. The five speed pulls great and with a drilled airbox and a Gpipe, it sounds awesome!!

Congrats on the purchase and enjoy it in good health. Beautiful cars you have there.

very nice! what do you expect the value of the Z8 to do? seems like they should do nothing but climb. i love germans too, just prefer the other team, hence the username!

I just acquired the Z8 back in Jan as it's a car that was on my wishlist. I do not think BMW will ever make a car like this again, the fit and finish is unlike any BMW I have ever seen. The car I bought only has 7,000 miles, great for long term value. Like 911's, most of these cars are going back overseas.

Z8 is also on my wish list. A timeless BMW.

Owning both a 964 (93 RSA) and a 993 is a wonderful study in compare and contrast. Many people take sides and espouse the particular virtue of whatever camp they come from. However if you are fortunate enough to own both you will find that the greatness is shared and the subtle differences aren't so much one better than another but enough distinct that owning both is worthwhile and both elicit huge grins... The challenge is just which one to choose when a day of driving beckons!

Nice collection of cars! Any plans to buy a Carrera 3.2 to own three-generations of Porsche and a period-correct stablemate to the E30 M3?
