Cup suspension; new member with questions and of course pics.
Hello Rennlist, new member here, I've been over at the bird for about 8 years and a porsche owner for about 20 years. Mostly older 911's and sc's but recently bought a 964 roller that I am going to build into a 73 RSR ( my dream car ). Although I have a long way to go and lots more questions along the way, a few parts came along with the car that I'm not familiar with and need some help, one of which is a coil over suspension from a 964 cup car. Question is; can I use it? Should I use it? Will it fit? The car is a 92 and I was told that there is a difference between 90-91 & 92-94. Can you tell by looking if this is for early or late models, or can they be adapted. Part #s are 96433350370 and printed on the springs are 2ha cup.
If anyone knows about these I would greatly appreciate some input.

Welcome and good luck
Front fitment is the same on all years, rear is different post Nov 1990 (IIRC)
I have seen people who have made up spacers to mke late fitments fit earlier cars, however I imagine the cup cars have the later fitment so should bolt straight onto your 92 car
In case you havent seen

Just wanted to bump this up to see if anyone has used this setup and how it compares to others on a street/track car.
Also, does the top of the rear shock look like a stock setup or some sort of spacer?
Thanks, Jack.

Jack ,I believe the later model 964's used shorter shock bodies than the early ones. It appears the spacers you have on top of the rear shocks were used to mount your later model shocks to a early model car. I can't confirm what you have is genuine 964 cup car coilovers. If they are there is a resale market for them. I wouldn't use them on my car as they are very yesterday race track technology and probably way oversprung for any kind of street duty. I think you would be better served getting a new modern adjustable set of coilovers such as Bilstein PSS10, KW V3 or Clubsports.

I ran this setup on my track car. Note that these aren't really the Cup struts, they use a smaller spring with tenders, this is the euro RS setup that was also put in the us "Cup" when it was put back as a street car. They should have black springs so i don't know what rates the yellow springs are. It really would be fine for the street. Feels about the same as the h&r reds just a tad stiffer. The nice thing is they are valves for the spring rate that is something most guys who run the Bilstein HDs don't do. For a pure racecar it would be too soft. Check the top mono ***** housings for cracks before you put them in. The taller spacer is for the earlier car. I'd get a set of RS bars to run with it. Nice car by the way....
Just noticed that you don't have the monoball top mounts so forget what I said about the crack issues...

964 RS dampers are here
http://www.germansportscars.net/GB/p...-of-porsch/44/
These are not RS and look like 964 Cup dampers with possibly softer front springs added.
There is no way you would drive the Cup suspension on the road at more than about 40mph.
I know as I have road registered my original Cup car!
