Wheels with an ET56?

I am considering a set of Work wheels I found for my '90 C4 NB. The wheels are 8x18 and 10x18, both ET56. Is the backspacing going to be a fitment issue? Or is it as simple as only running spacers in the rear with no other modifications?
I apologize for the noob question.

10ET56 will need a spacer.
around 10ET40 to 10ET47 is usually about right depending on a number of variables.
what camber, ride height, and springs are you using?
search for my 10ET40 thread for specific info on 10ET40 fitment.
if you run zero camber, then might be lucky enough to get away with 10ET56 .. not sure it will corner very well though.

btw .. you are over-complicating things by including the diameter that is pretty much irrelevant.
for the front 8ET56 .. hmm about 8ET50 is better .. possibly about 8ET45 ... search for specific thread again for the fronts. 8ET50 is in the thread title.

I was planning on replacing the current set up with H&R Greens and Bilsten HD's prior to installing the wheels. Hadn't thought about camber anymore than factory settings. I was thinking of going with Euro RS ride height.
Tire size is a blank slate at this point too.

i went for 265/35 and 235/40 and it worked well ... it was the nearest match that i could find to meet the tolerance with the diameters required for the C4.
RS is pretty low and I'm not sure the H&R greens are very stiff, so i dont think you'll get away with 10ET40 .. maybe aim for about 10ET45-47 or so .. or do a trial fit first with the 10ET56 then just measure clearances from there.
you're better off buying wheels that fit .. unless it is a bargain.

If I were to set the car higher then Euro RS height (+5mm or +10mm) do nothing to the ET56 8" wheel in the front and add a 10mm spacer to the rear to acheive a ET46 would that work?
The wheels aren't necessarily a bargain, but they are a decent deal, not that common, and I do like the look. But I don't want cause headaches or suffer because of them either.

my 8ET50 rubbed a reasonable amount on full lock .. so 8ET56 will be 6mm worse .. i would definately fit spacers to the front (but not road legal in my country).
if you buy the wheels, dont buy spacers until after trial fit of the wheels and taking your own measurements.
